Four members of the military arm of the Free West Papua Movement OPM have reportedly been arrested in Indonesia's Papua region in connection with last month's deadly attacks on soldiers.

Eight Indonesian soldiers and four civilians were killed in two separate shooting incidents in Puncak Jaya.

A spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army, or TPN, claims the shootings were carried out to assert West Papuan cultural rights to defend their customary practices against ongoing military brutality.

Bintang Papua reports that four members of the TPN / OPM have been arrested in the past two days in Paniai.
