The court of disputed returns in Port Moresby has dismissed an election petition against Papua New Guinea's Treasurer, the Kandep MP Don Polye.

The newspaper, The National, reports that Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika dismissed the petition for non-compliance of court directions by the petitioner, losing candidate Alfred Luke Manase.

Mr Manase said there were errors and omissions during the counting of votes for the 2012 general election at Wabag, Enga province's capital.

He alleged that a returning officer and counting officials manipulated figures polled during the counting which had resulted in Polye winning the Kandep seat.
