Sport: Samoa softballers urged to dig deep

11:41 am on 6 March 2013

Samoa coach Chris Kohlhase says his players need to dig deep in their final two pool matches if they're top have any hope of making the playoffs at the Softball World Championships.

The Tanifa lost 6-2 to the Czech Republic on Tuesday for their second straight defeat at the tournament.

Next they take on defending champs Australia before a crucial game against South Africa.

Chris Kohlhase says the team is in a bit of a flat patch and need to find that little bit extra.

"Little bit of soul-searching the last couple of days, with a couple of mental errors. It's normally the middle of the tournament - it's Groundhog Day - you start looking around and losing focus on what the main objective is so we've had a good talk last night and I'm sure the guys are refocused again and, now we're on the homeward stretch, we will have a different mental attitude going into tonight and tomorrow's game."
