Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service officers have been sacked as a result of recent video footage of the beating of two escaped prisoners.

The nine-minute video, released on the internet, shows a handcuffed man being physically and sexually assaulted, beaten by a group of men while lying helpless in the back of a pick-up truck.

The police have said the men in the video are Fijian security personnel.

A corrections spokesperson says the officers have been fired in relation to the video.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
