Fiji's information ministry says the Prime Minister will give a televised address at six o'clock tonight.
It says Commodore Frank Bainimarama will make an important announcement to the nation.
No details have been given.
His last televised address was given in early January when he scrapped the draft constitution, which the regime-appointed commission had delivered in December.
He has since promised a new constitution by late March but has to date failed to appoint a Constituent Assembly as outlined in a decree last July.
