A former Fiji prime minister says the government continues to break promises it's made in the constitution process.
The government has announced there will be no Constituent Assembly but instead, a new draft constitution has been released for the public to give its feedback on over the next two weeks.
By decree, the Constituent Assembly was to sit two months ago, but the regime failed to appoint one.
Mahendra Chaudhry says he rejects the government's changes in the constitution process and says the manner in which it's being promulgated is wrong.
He says the regime has broken all its promises made in the constitutional process and believes it will further delay the registration of proposed political parties.
"We've said all along that Bainimarama cannot be trusted. He's cheated the people of Fiji and the international community repeatedly, made promises and then reneged on them - that is the important thing. And now he wants to impose his own will on the people, by simply saying this is the constitution. You want to write in about it, write in, but this is what you will have up come April."
Mahendra Chaudhry says he believes the public's views will be thrown in the trash can.
