11:58 am on 26 March 2013

New Zealand are just one win away from a place at the Under 20 football world cup, but they were forced to do it the hard way against New Caledonia.

After falling 2-0 behind inside 25 minutes, the Junior All Whites rallied with three goals either side of half-time.

New Zealand now has three wins from three and need to beat Fiji in their last match on Wednesday to confirm their place in Turkey.

In the later match on Monday, Vanuatu thrashed Papua New Guinea 6-1 in the battle of the bottom teams to grab their first win.

Patrick Aisa volleyed home for PNG in the opening minute but from there it was one-way traffic with Dalong Damalip bagging a hat-trick.

Meanwhile the draw for the Under 20 World Cup has been made, with Oceania's representative to play Uzbekistan, Uruguay and Croatia in Group F.
