American Samoa gets supplementary budget

2:33 pm on 26 March 2013

American Samoa's governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has submitted a five-million US dollar supplementary budget to the Fono for approval.

The budget is to cover legal settlements or court judgments against the government, overtime payments to employees and Department of Education school facilities upgrades.

Money will also go to the governor's office to cover unfunded payouts to former administration and staff and restore half a million to the Fono's fiscal year 2013 budget that was cut by the Budget Office.

The budget will also be used to cover other outstanding government debts.

The funding for the supplemental is to come from unbudgeted, unexpended and unobligated revenues from several sources.
