Samoa airline gets limited domestic access in American Samoa

The U.S. Department of Transportation has granted Samoa Air only 30-days to operate specific domestic flights in American Samoa.

The Samoa based airline last November filed an application for cabotage exemption to transport people, property or mail between Pago Pago and the two domestic airports in the Manu'a islands using a nine-seater and a three-seater aircraft.

The airline had stated its request was primarily to meet a critical need for reliable air services to residents who don't live on the main island.

In its decision, the U.S. Transportation Department has given the airline limited access.

It can only conduct emergency medical flights.
