The Fiji women's team make their debut on the Women's World Series in China this weekend.
The series is a new advent this season, with tournaments already staged in Dubai and Houston.
The Fijiana team haven't played a tournament this year and coach Elenoa Kunatuba says their time in China will be valuable preparation ahead of the World Cup.
"For us the key is to perform during the world cup and that is to finish i the top six and to be able to get into that core teams for the World Series. So for us this is just to build some performance - then go back after some analysis and assessment. Come the World Cup it will be a totally different squad altogether and they'll be ready to go to the World Cup."
Fiji have a tough draw this weekend, against Houston finalists England and USA, as well as hosts China.
