Australian immigration officials have flown 20 Vietnamese asylum seekers to their remote detention camp on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea.

The group of single males is the 12th transfer to Manus from Christmas Island.

They are the first Vietnamese to be sent there.

In addition, three people - two women and a child - who had previously been sent from Manus to Australia for medical treatment, returned to the island on the same flight.
