American Samoa's LBJ Hospital has asked Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga for a supplemental appropriation to keep the hospital operations afloat.

The LBJ board chair, Tofoitaufa, Sandra King Young says the hospital has had to reduce pharmacy spending from US$95,000 to $65,000 a week.

She said the hospital has a $1.7 million shortfall for fiscal year 2013 because money anticipated from a 2% wage tax has not been been given to LBJ yet.

The projected shortfall for LBJ for the fiscal year is $5 million.
