The Permanent Secretary for Health in Solomon Islands says the number of people with dengue fever is continuing to rise.
The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Coporation reports Dr Lester Ross saying there have been 600 confirmed cases with three deaths since the outbreak began at the end of January.
He says most cases are in Honiara but there are victims in Isabel, Choiseul, Western Province, Temotu, Malaita and other parts of Guadalcanal.
Dr Ross says specialists from Australia and New Zealand have arrived in the country to help local health personnel address the outbreak.
The Australian High Commissioner says his government has agreed to provide the National Referral Hospital in Honiara and provincial hospitals with additional staff following a request for assistance from the Solomons Government.
The medical task force of nine Australians and 2 New Zealanders arrived in the country last Friday.
