The Solomon Islands parliament has passed a bill hailed as bringing policing in the country up-to-date.
The Police Commissioner John Lansley has said the Police Bill 2013 will make it clearer to people what to expect in their dealings with the force as well as clarifying internal issues including discipline and recruitment.
He describes the bill as being much more specific on the laws regarding searching, evidential and arrest procedures.
