The company PNG Power Limited plans to install up to 22 new high voltage transformers to boost power supply throughout Papua New Guinea.

The CEO Tony Koiri told the Post Courier newspaper that it is the second time a major system equipment upgrade project has been undertaken, with many transformers now more than 30 years old

In a contract signed between PPL and Chinese owned Qiantang River Electric, the new transformers will be designed, manufactured, factory tested and supplied by QRE.

The installation will begin in July.
