Sport: Amicale FC gunning for O-League top spot

9:14 am on 20 April 2013

Despite already booking their spot in the Oceania Champions League semi-finals, Amicale FC coach Richard Iwai says his players won't be easing off in their remaining matches.

Amicale beat Hekari United on Wednesday to seal one of two playoff berths from Group A along with Fijian champions Ba, who they host today in Port Vila.

Amicale trail Ba on goal difference with the teams to meet twice in the next eight days.

Richard Iwai says with a playoff spot secure, they now want to win the group.

"I've been telling my team that every game is like a final so this coming Saturday we play Ba. It will be not easy, it will be very very strong, because Ba are leading at the moment and we see how much they score against the other teams and this Saturday is like a final to us."

Also today, Solomon Warriors host Hekari United with both teams still seeking their first win.

Auckland City and Waitakere United meet tomorrow in a local derby, where a win would secure the former a spot in the semi finals.
