The Minister of Commerce and Industries in Solomon Islands says the people of Choiseul Province will no longer need to bury their money in the ground because of a new in-store bank.

Elijah Doromuala made the statement at the launch of the Westpac Bank in the Choiseul capital, Taro.

Mr Doromuala says people have hidden their money in wooden boxes and underground because of the problem of accessing banks but they no longer need to do so.

He says Westpac Bank has also installed an EFTPOS machine which people can now use to do their banking transactions.
