Australia is to give the Tonga Government five million US dollars to help cover salaries and service delivery in the health and education sectors.
Matangi Tonga reports Australia's High Commissioner to Tonga, Brett Aldam, saying the budget support would help Tonga's efforts to build a strong and resilient economy.
Tonga's Minister of Finance and National Planning, Lisiate 'Akolo, says his government is extremely grateful for the aid.
He says not only does it ensure service delivery but takes the pressure off other key areas.
