An armed man in New Caledonia has injured two people after firing shots in the city centre of Noumea.
Police say the gunman fired at the entrance of the Chamber of Commerce building, wounding a woman's foot and injuring another person, who was struck by flying glass.
Police chased the gunman, who has been described as a young man, and caught him hiding between two vehicles.
It is not known why he discharged his rifle.
