Nauru calls for Pacific Plan cut back

The Nauru government has told a team reviewing the Pacific Plan that the document needs to be cut back with fewer priorities.

The Pacific Plan is the Pacific Island Forum's blue print for improved regional co-operation.

The Plan is now 8 years old and a team has been travelling the Pacific garnering each country's views on why it has achieved little in that time.

A common theme on Nauru was that the Plan tries to cover too many areas and this made it difficult for the member countries to implement.

Nauru stakeholders also say more resources are needed for the process.
