The Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands has signed an extradition letter for a former attorney general to be returned from the United States mainland.

Governor Eloy Inos has requested the Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper have Edward Buckingham 'arrested, secured and delivered' into the United States Marshals Service's custody, and says he believes it will not take long to achieve.

The governor says the cost of bringing Mr Buckingham back to face the charges that the Office of the Public Auditor filed against him could be 15 thousand US dollars.

Mr Buckingham was arrested last week in Colorado.
