Nauru's latest political stalemate is over with the dissolution of Parliament today after weeks of inactivity caused by the lack of a quorum.
MPs associated with the president Sprent Dabwido have been staying away from parliament in protest at the failure of the speaker, Godfrey Thoma, to follow a presidential advice to dissolve the institution and allow elections.
Parliament again lacked a quorum today but Mr Thoma dissolved it allowing elections late next month.
The poll is expected on the 22nd of June.
