American Samoa's Department of Agriculture has mobilised staff and equipment to set up operations on the Manua islands of Tau, Ofu and Olosega.

The governor, Lolo Matalasi Moliga, has ordered all government departments to set up operations in the Manua group by July the 15th, to mark the 109 years since the island group became part of American Samoa.

Supplies of lumber and building materials and taro tops are being loaded aboard the MV Sili to create a Department of Agriculture store and a taro plantation on the Manua islands.
