Papua New Guinea's Commerce and Industry Minister, Richard Maru, says the delayed Pacific Marine Industrial Zone in Madang is a definite go-ahead after its opponents withdrew their legal action.
The Zone will see up to 10 fish canneries, a fishing port complex, container handling facilities, a waste water facility, a power plant and other industrial developments built on 217 hectares of land beside the Madang Lagoon.
Last October, a judge ordered the development be put on hold after affected customary landowners argued that the development was illegal.
But Mr Maru says he has received a letter from lawyers representing the three main groups opposed to the development, saying they have withdrawn their case from the National Court.
