Australian officials say the latest transfer to Nauru of 17 Palestinian refugees has been completed.

A spokesperson for Australia's Department of Immigration says the group was made up of single adult males.

The group is the 17th transfer to Nauru and the first group of Palestinian nationals to arrive at a regional detention centre.

Transfers will continue to occur regularly as part of Australia's policy of regional processing of refugee vessels.

The government continued to emphasise its message that people choosing to travel to Australia by boat should receive no advantage.
