The Stade Francais fullback Paul Williams has been given the nod to captain Samoa on their tour of South Africa, which begins at the weekend.

Williams replaces regular skipper David Lemi who is unavailable for selection because of injury.

Team Manager Namulauulu Sami Leota says there have also been other late changes to the squad due to family and personal commitments, with Kahn Fotualii replaced by Junior Poluleuligaga, Auvasa Falealii replaced by Alatasi Tupou, George Pisi replaced by Sinoti Sinoti, and Maurie Faasavalu replaced by Piula Faasalele.

Manu Samoa open their tour with a warm-up match against the Lions this weekend, while a number of players will also join the team next week following the latest round of Super Rugby and European club matches.
