France blacklists Vanuatu for lack of financial aid transparency

8:22 am on 3 June 2013

Vanuatu has been put on a French blacklist for countries which need to display more financial transparency over international transactions.

The Daily Post reports that France has blacklisted 17 countries that do not help investigate foreign aid fraud, banning the use of their banks to help distribute development funds.

The blacklist builds on an already established list of eight so-called non-cooperative states and territories, including Nauru, Brunei and the Philippines.
