Vistior arrivals to the Northern Marianas were up 6 per vcent in April campared to the same time last year.
The Saipan Tribune reports the Marianas Visitors authority registered close to 33,000 visitors on the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Arrivals from China, South Korea and Russia rose dramatically, with visitor numbers from Russia increasing by 131 percent since charter flights from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk started in October.
However, arrivals from Japan fell 18 per cent, with the Authority blaming the falling value of the Japanese Yen against the US dollar which makes the CNMI increasingly unaffordable for Japanese tourists.
