Indonesia's request for the wanted fugitive Djoko Tjandra to be extradited from Papua New Guinea looms as a key discussion item when PNG's Prime Minister Peter O'Neill visits Jakarta next month.

The Post Courier reports that Mr O'Neill's state visit to Indonesia, which begins on June 17th, will see him talk with President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono on bilateral issues including trade, investment and border issues.

The Indonesian Attorney-General's office has advised that Jakarta hopes to speak to PNG about their demands for the return of the wanted Indonesian fugitive.

Djoko Tjandra fled Indonesia in 2009, a day before being convicted of misusing government funds.

He was awarded PNG citizenship last June, despite being wanted by Interpol and the Indonesian government.

PNG's government said in January it was revoking Djoko's citizenship but has not completed this process despite repeated requests from Indonesia to have him handed over.
