A 27-year-old man in Tonga has been charged with murder in relation to the death of his 17-year-old cousin whom he allegedly struck on the neck with an axe at a home in Neiafu, Vava'u early Tuesday morning.
The officer in charge at the Vava'u police station, Superintendent Netane Falakiseni, told Matangi Tonga online the accused had allegedly threatened his sister with the axe and the cousin had intervened.
The accused, who has not been named, has been remanded in police custody is expected to appear at the Magistrate's Court today.
