Visitor numbers to CNMI continues to climb

Visitor numbers in the Northern Marianas continue to climb with 16 percent more arrivals in May compared with the same month last year.

The Marianas Visitors Authority reports nearly 33-thousand tourists arrived compared with just over 28-thousand last year in May.

It says while there was a fall in the Japan market, more Koreans came while visitor numbers from China soared by 37 per cent to reach more than 9-thousand.

The Authority puts this down, in part, to an additional flight from Beijing.

It is expecting continuing rapid growth in the China market for the remainder of this summer.

And through the new twice weekly flights from Vladivostok the number of Russians visiting the CNMI is up 17 percent.
