Data about American Samoa's gross domestic product and purchasing power will be included in a Pacific International Comparison Report Program by the World Bank.

The territory's Director of Commerce Keniseli Lafaele is attending a workshop about the Pacific International Comparison Program in Brisbane, Australia this week.

The International Comparison Program is a worldwide statistical partnership to collect comparative price data and compile detailed expenditure values of countries' gross domestic product and estimate countries purchasing power parity.

Mr Lafaele says under the programme the territory will be able to measure the relative social and economic well-being of countries, monitor the incidence of poverty, track the effectiveness of development plans, and help identify productivity and investment potential of different countries.
