Sport: Fiji still alive in the PNC after Canada suffer first loss

Fiji and Tonga will meet in an effective winner takes all clash to decide the Pacific Nations Cup in Tokyo at the weekend.

The Flying Fijians picked up maximum points in an emphatic 35-10 victory over the USA on Wednesday night in Nagoya to move to within two points of tournament leaders Canada.

The Canucks could have secured the title with a win over Japan in the later game but a penalty goal seven minutes from time saw them beaten 16-13.

The North Americans still top the standings on 13 points but, having played all of their fixtures, will be leapfrogged by whoever wins Sunday's all-Pacific clash.

A low-scoring draw, however, would still give the Canadians the silverware.
