Less than half the New Zealand migrant quota from Pacific countries has been filled this year.

Matangi Tonga reports 93 Tongans were selected for immigration to New Zealand, out of the 250 allocated places for the country.

Samoa has a delegated quota of 1,100, and over 500 Samoans were selected for immigration to New Zealand.

Kiribati was delegated a quota of 75, with a selection of 35 successful applicants.

Tuvalu was given a quota of 75, with 28 successful applicants.

Fiji is still excluded from participating in the system because of New Zealand government sanctions in response to the 2006 military coup.

The New Zealand government says those successful in the ballots will be posted an Invitation To Apply letter and an application pack by July the 12th.
