American Samoa lieutenant governor warns against workforce burnout

5:29 am on 6 July 2013

American Samoa's lieutenant governor has urged his cabinet members to stay healthy and not kill themselves in the first year of the new administration.

Lemanu Peleti Mauga says the administration has done a lot during its first seven months of the new Lolo Matalasi Moliga government to address the governors vision and goal for the next four years.

He told directors their purpose is to serve the people and government of American Samoa and they are required to take care of themselves and their employees.

"If you don't take care of yourself you don't take care of your workforce, you are going to be burned out by the end of the year. Take care of yourself, take time out, don't kill yourself in the first year. We don't want that. We can't serve if we don't function."
