The governor of the Northern Marianas, Eloy Inos, has signed into law the budget for the new fiscal year beginning at the end of this month.
Our correspondent reports it marks the smoothest path for a budget in years.
Mr Inos says the 123 point 4 million US dollar budget bill for 2014 is not perfect but it ensures there will not be a government shutdown this year.
