Tuvalu to hold by-election

Tuvalu is to have a by-election after the Governor General, Sir Iakoba Taeia Italeli, declared a vacancy for the constituency of Nanumaga.

The seat was held by Dr Falesa Pitoi, who has been away on medical leave.

The decision to hold a by-election follows a report by a medical team that assessed Dr Pitoi's health.

No date has been set for by-election which will be the fourth in the current four-year term.
