Fiji's regime leader has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral.
Frank Bainimarama handed over his command of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces nearly two weeks ago under constitutional rules in order to concentrate on running for election.
President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau who is the Commander in Chief of the RFMF announced the promotion of the former commander at the weekend.
In a statement Ratu Epeli says this recognises Frank Bainimarama's 39 years of distinguished service in the RFMF and his contribution to the nation.
