The European Union says the opening of its new office in Samoa shows its commitment to the country and the Pacific region.
It says the office is in the grounds of the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel in Apia and was opened by the EU's Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs, and the EU Ambassador for the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs.
It says the EU has been in Samoa since 1982 and the new premises will provide a better working environment for its staff.
It says the European Union is one of the biggest donors to Samoa, having given nearly 70 million US dollars in the past six years for water management, civil society support and disaster relief.
