A former Samoan rugby star took the stand on Wednesday in his trial in Apia on seven charges including assault, threatening and being armed with a dangerous weapon.
Muliagatele Brian Lima has denied prosecution evidence that he assaulted the complainant, his ex-wife, Lemalu Sina Reztlaff, outside a night club in Apia on December 2012.
He told the court that he punched a man who was with the complainant but his ex-wife suddenly came between them and was struck first.
