Tonga leaders to learn about Chinese socialism

Lectures on socialism will be part of the programme for a Tongan government delegation on a ten-day visit to China.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister, Samiu Vaipulu, includes seven other parliamentarians as well as government officials.

They will visit Jinan and other cities in Shandong Province, Xi'an in Shaanxi Province and Beijing.

As well as having lectures on Socialism with Chinese characteristics, the group will visit business enterprises, including a vegetable trade fair, fish farms and small scale commercial fishing fleets. .

China recently signed a deal to build a new palace and offices for the Tonga Government while Tonga is pushing to have a huge loan from China for the rebuilding of Nuku'alofa turned into a grant.
