Sport: Manusina still waiting on flight-change confirmation

The Samoa women's rugby team expect to confirm their travel arrangements to the World Cup in France on Friday after choosing not to fly with Malaysia Airlines.

Flight MH17 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile over Ukraine last week, killing all 298 people on board.

The incident happened four months after another Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared without trace after taking off from Kuala Lumpur.

Manusina coach Euini Lale Faumuina says the team was scheduled to fly out on Sunday in time for their tournament opener against England in Paris next weekend.

But he says after recent events the group decided on a last minute change.

"It's still yet to be confirmed so later on today we will find out the finer details and whom we're flying. The major concern was on the players and their families and I guess it's just a natural reaction and fear that, due to the two incidents with Malaysia Airlines, the players and their families felt that they needed to change the airline and fly obviously with a different airline".

The Manusina open their World Cup campaign against England next Saturday, with other pool matches against Canada and Spain.
