Sport: Fiji's Melani continues strong form in Nanjing

Fijian swimmer Meli Malani has continued his strong run at the Youth Olympic Games in China, winning a second heat in as many days.

The 17 year old touched home first in his 50m breaststroke in 29.59 seconds, 0.66 seconds clear of the field but not quite fast enough to reach the semi finals.

He also who won his 50m butterfly heat on Wednesday.

Guam golfer Devin Hua carded a final round one under par 71 to finish 13th in the men's individual strokeplay.

Hua was ten shots behind the overall winner, while Rayman Kiria from the Cook Islands finished second from bottom at 52 over par over his three rounds.

In the women's strokeplay, Guam's Nalathai Vongjalorn and Memory Akama from the Cook Islands finished well down on the rest of the field, 39 and 79 shots behind the gold medallist.

Vanuatu were outclassed 7-1 by Cape Verde in their final boys football match, the Vanuatu and Tuvalu pairings lost their latest beach volleyball clashes and Tonga's Chirk Manzo lifted a total of 201kg in the 77kg weightlifting division.
