An MP in Papua New Guinea has warned the Government about mounting problems at the Manus Island asylum seeker detention camp.
It was one of a number of issues discussed after Parliament resumed this week following a two month break.

"Ronnie Knight has spoken of the threat of unrest on Manus if a range of problems related to the presence of foreign contractors at the detention centre remains unattended. The Foreign Minister, Rimbink Pato, said the Government would look into it. It was a similar response to Oro Governor Gary Juffa's question about public sector office security after the recent murder of a foreign affairs official by a deranged former public servant. In other matters, the House passed legislation to create the Western Pacific University Campus at Lalibu in the Southern Highlands. And the Prime Minister agreed with concerns raised by the Maprik MP John Simon about why Air Niugini is offering Australian-made biscuits and not Papua New Guinean."
