The Fiji Labour Party has called for a recount and audit of the results of Wednesday's general elections, saying there is credible evidence of gross manipulation of the process and possible rigging of votes.
The party says such a recount must be done at the National Count Centre in Suva and in the presence of all political parties as well as a team of independent local observers.
It also calls on the Supervisor of Elections and the Electoral Commission to engage with all political parties to address their concerns as conveyed to them in writing.
The Labour Party says it rejects the findings of the preliminary report of the Multi-National Observer Group that this was a credible election.
Preliminary results suggest that the Labour Party is unlikely to win any seats.
In 1999, Labour won an absolute majority and in the last election in 2006, it secured just under 40 percent of the votes.
