Senior Solomons bureaucrats resign to contest poll

Three senior public servants in Solomon islands have resigned their posts to contest the national elections later this year.

They are the permanent secretaries of Public Service, Health and Medical Services and National Planning and Aid Co-ordination.

It is understood that Dr Lester Ross from Health will be contesting the Western Provincial seat of Marovo.

Jeremiah Manele from Planning intends standing in the Isabel Province seat of Kia-Hograno-Havulei and Ishmael Avui of the Ministry of Public Service in the North-East Central Guadalcanal seat.

The Public Service Commission has confirmed the resignations and is already advertising for replacements.
