The US Coast Guard is continuing its investigations into a collision of two purse seiners in Pago Pago harbour last week which left one crew member injured and fuel leaking into the ocean.

The purse seiner Captain Vincent Gann was returning to port after developing engine problems but it suddenly picked up speed while it was trying to dock.

Its bow caught the side of the Ocean Challenger leaving a one metre vent on its side.

A crew member on one of the purse seiners was taken to hospital after suffering a fractured thigh.

The Captain Vincent Gann belongs to Tri Marine International.

An insurance representative and surveyor for the company has arrived to assess the damage before deciding on repairs for the purse seiner.
