Kiribati is the latest island nation to sign an agreement with emerging Satellite broadband provider Kacific.

The multi-million dollar, five year agreement, signed on Monday, will see Kacific provide the islands with high speed broadband services from 2017.

Satnews Daily reports the Kiribati Minister of Communications, Rimeta Beniamina saying the agreement will ensure remote islands in Kiribati will be able to enjoy a connected future.

All of this hinges on Kacific's intention to launch its Kacific-1 Satellite early in 2017.

The company is also a partner of the Small Islands Developing States, Addressing Connectivity for Sustainable Development Project.

Last month it signed an agreement with the International Telecommunications Union to establish 55 e-centers in remote islands or rural areas in Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, Samoa, Solomon Isalnds, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, Vanuatu Papua New Guinea, Nauru and Tonga.
