The World Bank has announced 14 million US dollars worth of grants to benefit the Solomon Islands.
Nine million will be given to support the second phase of the Solomon Islands Rural Development Program, one of the Government's main instruments to address rural poverty.
The bank says the RDP 2 aims to alleviate rural poverty and provide opportunities through activities that will expand community infrastructure and services while strengthening the links of small households to markets.
The World Bank says the programme is expected to provide benefits to about 65,000 households or 65 percent of the population.
The bank has also granted three million dollars for the Economic Reform and Recovery Development Policy Operation which will support continued reform.
The operation supports a program of reforms to improve the management of public expenditure and debt as well as strengthening the administration of the mining sector and improve conditions for private sector investment.
Another 2 million dollars from the World Bank's special Crisis Response Window fund will help deal with the impacts of the severe flooding which hit the nation in April.
