The Governor General of Solomon Islands is yet to receive a formal nomination for Prime Minister with only a day to go before nominations close.
One political block has declared a two-time former Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, as its preferred candidate but the group has yet to submit a coalition agreement to legitimise its claim to form the new government.
The only legally registered group, the Solomon Islands People's Democratic Coalition, is yet to put forward a prime ministerial candidate.
Government House has confirmed no nomination has been submitted for the prime ministerial election which is due next Tuesday in a secret ballot in parliament.
